The Process: Data, data, data and lots of conversations with community leaders, housing advocates, City leadership, funders, and others. Step One focused on expanding and fine-tuning the Neighborhood Improvement Program that targets public dollars to specific areas in need of investment. Step Two evaluated neighborhoods and housing citywide and recommended specific tools, programs, and funding approaches to help create more housing affordable to Fort Worth families.
Results: City adoption and praise from local leaders, an expanded Neighborhood Improvement Program with more dollars to address multiple neighborhoods each year, new data tools to measure neighborhood progress, and a new citywide land trust for affordable housing that will soon be the country’s largest.
